Homeschooling 101
I wanted to leave a space here, that will give people an idea of how we got started in homeschooling. Some practical tips and some resources to point you in the right direction should you ever decide to homeschool your own brood.
One of the things I have learned over the years, is that one of the best things you can do before you begin homeschooling, is to write out a big picture plan of what type of people you want your little ones to grow to be. If you have this done before you begin, it will help you wade through the massive amounts of information available to you online. You will be able to sort through methods and approaches based on who you and your family are, how you all work together and what your long term goals are.
I say this all the time. Don’t get overwhelmed. If you can read a recipe and a bake a cake, you can homeschool and do it well. Here are a few things that you may want to get started with.
- Our Homeschool Philosophy
- Our Family Rules
- Book Reviews
- How to get started in Math
- A guide to a Charlotte Mason education
Enjoy this process and if you ever need an help, just shoot me an email. I am so thankful to all those who have helped me along the way. I am happy to do the same.
Grace and Peace to you~

Hi,
I just came across this blog and thought I should leave an encouraging comment.
We have been homeschooling for over 20 years and my story is similar to yours, married my best friend and together we have gone on the journey! It has been wonderful, a blessing,
a learning experience and very satisfying. What a great thing to be able to see the fruits of our labor in our kids’ strong walk with the Lord and see their success in serving him and
how homeschooling played such a huge role in this. We have had a really fun and exciting time this last year or more with our daughter who is still in school, (we have 3, 2 are adults now, her brothers) She had her first book published …she was 14 when it was accepted for publication and she is 16 now. It is “girls of grace faith vs. fear”, by Leah R.
Eads. We started a Christian Girlz club about 8 years ago as a support system for some socialization among other homeschoolers and the characters in the book are real people from club but the adventure is fictional. I thought it might be an inspiration to other prospective as well as newer homeschool families and their children.
I have really enjoyed reading your blog and thank you for being such an encouragement to others, I wish these type of things were around when we first started out!
God Bless and keep on sharing,
Carol Eads
