a little real life homeschooling……

Filed under: Homeschool, Uncategorized — Amber(Homeschool Diva) @ 9:07 pm

Today we started work on our core subjects early so we could spend the better part of the day at the beach with homeschooling friends.

We really got some nature study under our belts today. It always amazes me how children will play for hours with nothing more then their hands and a ton of sand.

We found seed pods, and drift wood, and various kinds of leaves, and shells. It was a glorious day, and we all are better for it.

They dug so deep , the sand changed colors and water filled their holes. It was a fun day of discovery.

and so bit by bit, we move along in our great big homeschooling adventure. The amazing days far outweigh the hard ones. It is more fun then a barrel of…well you know the rest.

Peace to all and a little fun and the sun to all my northern friends.

  2. Girl, I am letting it go all over the place. You know how I felt the other day. DANG! All I can say, is I love, I love, I love photography and I just don’t give a darn what anyone else thinks or wants from me. That is spilling over in all areas I might add. I am digging hard, and finding more and more treasure. God is so, so , so indescribably good.

Soup to nuts, is where this blog is going, it is less and less about homeschooling and more and more about life.

Hold on to your seat - its getting kind of bumpy in all the good ways!

  4. Yeah I know about the beach Bethany, cuz living in Prague is surely not cool at all:-) Just Kidding, the beach is a wonderfal luxury that I take advantage of regularly. Thanks for the blog complement. I am happy with it for now.

PS - Co-op has been on the back burner……do to the fact that you and I are the only artists to have work to give. I will check with the other three and see if they anything to submit.

  5. Hi Amber~
I LOVE your new look. And most of all I am excited that you are moving this blog simply toward LIFE! After all, life is not all about homeschooling…it’s about living the abundant life, every single one of us (which includes educating, a broad word in itself, our children). It’s a bit ironic to be reading your thoughts this morning- today, after 15 years of homeschooling (and with 2 kids in high school) I am taking a plunge into something I have always wanted to do- concerning the education of these cool young people that God has blessed me with. I don’t want to be bound by someone else’s idea of what makes a person educated (ie, the state). I want to just ENJOY living and learning and traveling and following God together. Somewhere between having kids playing and learning and loving life (at the beach- love those pictures! I have some almost just like those!) and studying Algebra II, and SAT word lists, I lost the beautiful vision of learning and life that God gave us in the beginning.
    That’s it. I’m done.
I won’t waste these precious years freaking out about the SAT, end of year testing, etc… Makes me think of Colossians 2:20- perhaps a bit out of context, a bit cut and paste, but still applicable: “Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules”.
    Let’s talk soon~

  6. Thanks Chen. I still have some css tweaking to do, but it is generally there:-) I am just so happy to change the banner every day if I want to. A Girl has to decorate you know, and I can only move things around my house so many times:-)

I think this blog has been more about my whole life from the start. When I got the wild haired idea to blog on my own, I thought it would be helpful to process through the whole homeschooling thing. Little did I know, that it would help me process through my life. By the time I had that figured out, the homeschool diva thing had taken root and now here I sit. I am still contemplating changing the name etc, etc. but it all takes time and brain energy I would rather give to other more fun things, so I just keep looking at it, slowly changing things around…Maybe I will make the jump soon.

So, I hear ya about not wasting precious years. It is amazing how fast life goes, and once you throw kids into the picture time takes on a warp speed. I almost feel 80 and a rocking chair just minutes away. So, I hold on tight, and savor every moment, because now my middle is loosing her teeth, reading away and writing like a pro. As soon as you loose the diapers there is no holding them back. It is wonderful and exciting and amazing all at once.

You need to email your new number, I only have the lingo number. Call when you get a chance.

    luv.

  8. Sounds like a great homeschooling day! Ours was spent under blankets. I think yesterday’s winds blew in winter.
