Carolyn, You are adding to the long list of reasons why we are not getting a dog.

Beta's and plants are good for me. I'll take them horseback riding when they are older to make up for it:-)

Amber, can I just put my full support behind you as you continue to not bring animals into the house??? We were all like, "the kids need a dog to love before they get too old and don't care." And we were all like, "there is a sad pooch needing rescued." And then we were all about, "there's another sad pooch who needs to be rescued."

A quick trip to the vet (for shots, rashes, vomiting, ear mites, bloody stools, worms, or just a check-up) will always cost more than the $40 visit with the vet. ALWAYS ends up costing at least $80, sometimes $200.

The dogs must be walked by 8:00 Every Day of Your Life for All Eternity, or until 14 years are up, whichever comes first. I figure we have 9 or 10 years left.

Granted, one dog can be a lovely companion. But betas appreciate you for who you are without needing big puffy ticks pulled off their ears. Do they even have ears?
