Diva’s Do’s & Dont’s

Do be friendly with the people who help you out with your groceries.  Especially the sweet, old Grandpa who was born in Cuba but became an American Citizen in the war in 1952, where he served our country in Korea.  Listen to them and smile at their enthusiasm as they tell stories of the Sargent who made him a citizen and how we “young” people need to do the best we can to make this world a better place for our children.

Don’t absently throw the milk in the back of the van as you listen away.  It may just puncture and spill all over the van and make a horrifying mess.  If this ever does happen, pray the sweet grandpa is “with it” enough to double bag the milk just in case this scenario occurs thereby preventing a total catastrophe!

Yikes! Spilt milk in the car and HOT Florida sun- pee-ewww! We did a large milkshake… not nearly as much yuck on the yuck scale, but… If you need to get the smell out, I have a few suggestions (from experience!).
    Have a better day today!

Ok :)Here goes… my highly technical, rotten milk removing, concoction…

1.) Make a solution of 2 parts water, 1 part powdered laundry detergent and 1 part baking soda- the consistency of watery paste (the amounts will depend on how big the affected area is).

2.) Scrub the carpet areas well with this paste. I used a scrub brush.

3.) Next, scrub with plain water mixed with some white vinegar… (not too much- if the carpet gets too wet, the smell can become moldy, rotten milk smell!!-Ewwww!).

4.) Then use something rigid, like the hard edge of a baking sheet or even a metal spatula, to scrape off the excess soap and water. (If you have a shop vac you could then suck up the extra more efficiently!) Finish by blotting the whole area with an absorbent towel.

5.) Let it dry really well with the doors open if possible. The air will really help.

6.) If the smell continues, (like it did for me), you can sprinkle baking soda over everything again & let it sit overnight. Then vacuume it all up.

    Good Luck- Happy car cleaning!
