Your 4 yo is not small at all, but instead, average.
If you took 100 kids and put them all at one of the percents, do you suppose only 1 of the 100 would be average and everyone else would either be small or large? Not possible, according to the definition of average.

3rd %ile is small. 25th % is in normal range.

My,soon to be, 7 year old is a 2T around. She is a 6-7 in length. I am going to be using this idea to keep her in long pants for the winter. It's either that or duct tape the waistband to her tummy! ;)

I have never had the problem of my pants being too big in the waist. :)

Rebekah, I was thinking the same thing. Wide cuff flannel would be cute on the bottom.

Marsha, You could always give it a go and if it doesn't work then scrap them but if it does then you are better off.

Maybe for boys some flannel or truck fabric! Mine is skinny but long- they fit the length and not the waste, but the next size down is too small. I guess the solution is to make your own!

VERY CUTE!

I have skinny boys and they are always growing out of their jeans (in length)... Even with the adjustable waist, it makes for A LOT of gathering on top. Too bad I can't think of a way to make this work for boys w/out making them look like sissy's.

Have a great week!
